Some readers may find this holiday a rather strange mix. Sri Lanka surfing and living the hippie lifestyle followed by a wander through southern france by a couple of baby boomers. The fact that baby boomers and hippies are quite often the same people, there is a certain sense to it all.
A week in Sri Lanka has enured me to fear of driving, so the trip from Arugam Bay to Colombo was kind of OK. To get a comfortable seat meant that I had not seatbelt so I guess my risk taking limits have increased.
Highlight of trip was elephants by the side of the road.
Next stop Singapore for one day only arriving at 7:40am and leaving midnight. Met Barbie at 5:30pm so had about 10 hours to kill. Orchard Road was extremely busy as it was Maids Day (their day off) so it was packed with young women mainly from Phillipines.
I had a business lunch at Dempsey Hill which is all old buildings with trendy restaurants and furniture shops. Our venue was Jones the Grocer which is weird as it is actually an Australian company. Good lunch and my host came up with a great idea to fill the afternoon. The triplwe building with the boat on top was chosen and smart advice was to not take the tour but go to third tower and ask to go to Ku de ta restaurant bar - that way you get the same access free. See pictures.
Rest of time in lounge with showers and food then off to France.
