Markets and Michelin Star Restaurant

Our first Souillac market day and then a planned lunch to le Pont de l'Ouysse a Michelin star restaurant meant today was one of great anticipation and excitement.

I was up early and on the bike for a ride via my favourite boulangerie for coffee and beurre croissant. A quick run around the market as it was being set up and my mouth was watering. Our planned big lunch meant I really couldn't eat much- ah well..

When we went to the markets it had everything one expects in a french rural town. Paella was being cooked in in two different locations - I bought some as it was just so tempting even though we had plenty of food at home for dinner. Violinists in the corner, strange old men selling fantastic but deformed looking bread added to the atmosphere.

I've been cultivating relationships with locals based mainly on sign language and smatterings of French. My coffee/beer guy is Millu and he met Barbie today and thus we now both have someone to communicate badly with.

On to lunch. Incredible.! the venue had beautiful gardens including vegetables and fronted a babbling brook and the remnants of an old aquaduct. Seating was below huge water chestnut trees with that had been pruned over the years giving us a loovley canopy below a very hot sun. The view took in an old castle on a cliff just adding to the totally unreal atmosphere.

Cooool!!

Cute!!

amuse bouche number 1

Rule of thirds..

Plates too good for food

Davids salad with truffles, foire gras, broad beans and more

Veal and more - deserves the Michelin star

This was rather cool. It was spherical till hot chocolate sauce poured and then it sort of popped. Tasted great
