Supermarket, Bike and Cute Towns

Cheap wines

Getting a bit more upmarket
I have been looking forward to going to a large french supermarche and was not disappointed. Huge range and predictably fantastic  array of food. Outside the supermarket was a dog hairdresser which was a treat to observe.

Wines of all prices from 3 to 200 euros. We have been drinking the Cahors wines rather than Bordeaux not because we have any true idea about them, but Cahors is just down the road and each wine has tasted great so the decision was made to support them.

Rose seems to be the current favourite but Pinot Gris (Andrew Eckle - Alsace) at 10 euros is gaining popularity at the maison...

I now have a bike to ride so as well as the excitement of the supermarket I went to the Leclerc hardware (same company as supermarket) for an explore. Lots of things I have not seen befire and i walked out with 2 disposable blood alcohol readers - very handy in France.

After shopping I went riding and ended up at Souillac Gare which had great views and a Bar Tabac nearby. Hot from riding, I entered the bar to find it full of tradesman type men eating hearty lunches. I was tempted to eat but opted for a beer instead as it was about 38 degrees.

This was cool technology - you scan products as you go..
We had lunch at home - leftover baguettes, poulet and salad of course washed down with some Rose.

We somehow had energy to head out for a long drive in the late afternoon heading out at about 3pm and returning at 9. I gets dark at about 10pm so the days are long and thus easy to fit in lots of activities.

The drive was a loop to see three "plus belles villages" - these are 3 of 150 in France to be awarded this title. They were Carenac, Lubresac and Autoire.
Too cute for words - and I mean the town

These towns were almost unreal and it could be early season but there were hardly any tourists and plenty of parking.

Saint-Cere was final stop and of course a stop at the local outdoor  section of the bar was a necessity given the temperature was now 38 degrees. On return Deb put together anothe glam dinner and we whiled the time away till 12:30 or so..
