Paris and Day 1 Souillac

Arrival in Paris was similar to a previous trip. A stroll through security and then to the Roissy rail station. Two hours to wait and our first coffee was a disappointment. Train trip was fine, always fun wandering up to the cafe car to find food.
Barbie was happy with the Croque Monsieur and short black , I had a beer and the time sailed by.

Arrival in Bordeaux and no sign of M and D who were picking us up to go to Souillac. Slight panic but not so long after, we connect and after a coffee were o the road to Souillac.

les Halles just around the corner
I should point out that today is Bastille Day and we expected great crowds everywhere but that was not the case so far.
Barbie loves trains

Cute dog at Bordeaux

At first blush Souillac seemed like a town with one main street and not much else. As I spend more time exploring I enjoy it more and more. Behind the main street and closer to our house ( I say that loosely as it is a rental that M and D have for 3 months) are lots of shops and open squares. There is also an ancient abbey almost next door.

As night fell (late) we enjoyed a beautiful chilled mint and pea soup followed by my first boeuf steak of the trip.

A surprise to all of us was the Bastille day celebrations after dark. First there were roaming bands , then music in every square followed by a huge fireworks and laser display at the abbey.
